Eating the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables isn't always easy.  Do you love smoothies?  Smoothie are delicious!  They can be a powerhouse of minerals and vitamins!  For this review I received What Color is Your Smoothie? recipe book.  This is really a fantastic book for recipes, that is full of great information!  Chapter one gives you a list of different vitamins and minerals, it tells you what fruit, vegetable, nut, oat, whole grain or other foods has that particular vitamins or minerals in it!  In the following chapter it talks about what certain fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and other powerhouse foods do to keep the body healthy.  This book is full of 300 smoothie recipes that can give your body a boost of nutrition, that has the most powerful affect on the body to keep it as healthy as possible!

I tried a dozen different smoothie recipes and I have many favorites.  The Cool Blue Coconut Chiller is so delicious and I can't wait to try every single recipe!  I am a big fan of drinking nutritious drinks, instead of eating the fruits, vegetables and other nutritious foods.  It's so much easier to just have a delicious smoothie, than eating all of that food.  My family has loved all the smoothies I have made and I would highly recommend this book!  This book of recipes is a powerhouse of healthy and delicious smoothies!

About What Color is Your Smoothie?

It’s no secret that Americans don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables: as many as 50 percent of Americans don’t eat a piece of fruit all day long.  Among the chief reasons for our low intake of fresh produce is the time required and difficulty in preparation.  Even if you do consume the expert-recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables, you still might not be getting the wide range of vitamins and minerals you need.

Smoothies are an easy way to maximize your fruit and vegetable consumption, and with What Color is Your Smoothie?  From Red Berry Roundup to Super Smart Purple Tart — 300 Recipes for Vibrant Health (Adams Media, a division of F+W Media, Inc.; March 2012) by Britt Allen Brandon, CFNS, CPT, with Nicole Cormier, RD, LDN, eating the rainbow has gotten even easier!

Britt Brandon, an ISSA-certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist, award-winning competitive runner, and mother of three, prepares smoothies daily to promote the health of herself and her family, and attests to the dramatic improvement they can have on pregnancy, athletic performance, children, and even pets.  She has curated more than 300 vitamin-packed smoothie recipes, organized by color, for maximum vitamin and mineral benefit.  Readers will blend, smooth, and shake their way to a healthy, new body!
