Ziploc Perfect Portions Review and Giveaway - Ends 04-15-12

Print Friendly and PDF

containers

Do you have a bunch of Ziploc products?  I sure do.  I love all of their different size baggies and containers!  They are so convenient for leftovers, cookies, craft supplies and so much more.  What do you store in your Ziploc products?  For this review I received one set of 6 Smart Snap Seal Containers, one box of Heavy Duty Freezer Gallon Size Ziploc Double Zipper Baggies and Ultra Light Freezer System Baggies.  The Ultra Light Freezer System Baggies are great for portion control, you can buy food in bulk and divide it up to your own portion size for your family.  Also the Ultra Light Freezer System Baggies are very convenient, just turn the baggie inside out and you can grab raw meat, without touching it!  How awesome is that?

Ziploc Brand Storage Bags with the Smart Zip Seal

Keep food fresh and secure.
Protect your food with Ziploc Brand Storage Bags.  Each bag blocks out air and locks in freshness, which means less wasted food and money.  Plus, their Smart Zip seal lets you hear and feel the bag close from edge-to-edge, so you can feel confident your food is protected.

  • Convenient for storing meat, seafood, or poultry in the refrigerator.
  • Features our Smart Zip seal.
  • Made of durable, long-lasting plastic.
  • Microwave safe (use as directed).  When defrosting and reheating, open zipper one inch to vent.  Caution: when using in microwave, place bag on a microwave-safe dish.  Handle with care.  Bag and contents may be hot.  Do not overheat contents as bag may melt.

THIS IS A REALLY GOOD TIP FOR ME

I buy a huge bag of wild bird feed, and then divide the feed up into separate Ziploc® Storage Bags. This way, each time I go out to fill a bird feeder, it's much easier to fill

I learned that to help prevent freezer burn, place your food in bag and lay bag flat. Press as much air as you can out of the bag. Close the bag seal until one inch remains open. Press remaining air out of the bag; then seal the bag completely. Gaye M; rustysrambles(at)gmail(dot)com

I learned that ziploc has a table for the shelf life of common foods in your refrigerator. Chicken parts can only last 1 to 2 days in the refrigerator? That must be after the few days they spend sitting in your grocery store's meat section. That seems a bit short.

I always forget about the little writing area on the bag, so I like this tip...

Food placed in Ziploc® Bags and Containers can be easily identified by adding labels stating the contents and date. You can also use a marker to write directly on the bag.
