The Watch DVD Review

Print Friendly and PDF

Here's another great movie with Ben Stiller!  When I first started watching it I wasn't too sure what the plot was, then it got pretty interesting.  It does have some foul language and some adult scenes, but all in all it was a pretty good movie.  Evan (Ben Stiller) is a business owner of Costco and in the basement of Costco, there are aliens, ready to take over the planet.  Evan and his recruits saves the planet from an alien invasionIt will be coming out on DVD/Blu-ray November 13th and it is rated "R".

About The Watch

Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade take male bonding to hilarious new heights in this outrageous, no-holds-barred comedy that gets funnier every time you watch!  There’s trouble brewing in peaceful Glenview, Ohio.  That’s why four civic-minded citizens, armed with flashlights, walkie-talkies and spiffy new jackets, have teamed up to safeguard their community, but the guys find more than they bargained for when they uncover an alien plot to destroy Earth.  These bumbling heroes are Glenview’s only chance to save the neighborhood — and the world — from annihilation.

I really liked the mix of comedy and sci-fi that this movie had, and I wonder why that isn’t more common because it really works. The beginning was a little slow, but I actually think that was an attempt to trick the viewer into thinking it was just a standard comedy so that the alien surprise was even more ridiculous and funny. I skipped the movie in theaters because it got awful reviews, but a coworker at DISH recommended it to me as being really funny. We usually have similar tastes and because I can get as many movies as I want at a flat rate with my Blockbuster @Home account from DISH I figured, why not rent it. It is definitely very crude and rather pointless, so you have to be in the right mood for it or it will probably just seem really bad.
