Daregal Gourmet Fresh Frozen Herbs Review and Giveaway - Ends 10-01-13

Print Friendly and PDF

I received a sampler of Daregal Gourmet fresh frozen herbs to review as a part of a Blog Friendly PR campaign.  All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.

Cooking can be a challenge for some people and other people it can be very creative.  There are so many recipes that are rather boring and don't have a whole lot of flavor.  Did you ever think about, how you can spruce up a recipe?  Have you tried using herbs?  Herbs can really spruce up a recipe and make it extra special!  There are so many different kinds of herbs that can enhance any recipe.

For this review, I received Daregal Gourmet Fresh Frozen Basil, Cilantro, Dill and Onion.  The fresh frozen herbs come in a cute little carton.  I knew what the Basil and Cilantro was, but the Dill and Onion label was in a foreign language, so I wasn't sure what they were.  I did a search on them to find out.  On the box of onion, it said Oignon-Cebolla and on the box of dill, it said Aneth Ciselè.  I guess you learn something new everyday.  I like using fresh herbs, but sometimes it's hard to find the ones you want and I love having them on hand when I need them!  I love the idea of just reaching into my freezer and grab the fresh frozen herb that I need, so I would certainly recommend Daregal Gourmet Fresh Frozen Herbs!

I decided to create a pizza using the Onion, Cilantro and I put a little basil on in the corner of the pizza.  The first thing I do to make a pizza is make some pizza dough in the bread machine.

Here's the recipe that I used:

Pizza Crust for 1.5 pound
½ teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 cup water
2 tablespoons of Olive Oil

I through all the ingredients into the bread machine and waited 1½ hours, till it was done.  I fried one pound of hamburger, with half the box of onions.  I greased the 12 x 15 inch jelly roll pan and started rolling out the dough.  I poured a bottle of pizza sauce onto the dough, spreading it out to each corner, then I added the pound of hamburger to that.  I took a can of refried beans and put it on half of the pizza, with a can of sliced olives on the other half.  I took the remainder of the Daregal Gourmet Fresh Frozen Onion and dumped it on the side, with the refried beans, adding cilantro, chili powder, garlic powder and cumin.  After that, I added the monterey jack cheese to the top and baked it at 400º for 28 minutes.

Pizza for dinner is always a family favorite!  Here's what it looked like, after it came out of the oven.  It tasted delicious and full of flavor, thanks to the fresh frozen herbs!
